In fact, she won the race against Martha McSally, who was chosen to be the Republican party’s nominee. After a while, when Senator Jeff Flake decided to leave his job, she was chosen to take his place in the Senate. She is the second democratic leader to be elected in the state of Arizona. Dennis DeConcini was the first democratic leader to be elected in Arizona, in the year 1988.
