Besides that, he teaches at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the International Department (MIT). Sendhil Mullainathan and Esther Duflo, both economists, worked with him on projects. Banerjee is not only one of the authors of the book Poor Economics, but he is also a professor of economics. When he first started out, he taught at both Harvard University and Princeton University. On the other hand, he was one of the three men who shared the Nobel Prize in Economics with his wife Esther and their son Michael. The award was given to all three of them at the same time (2019).
